Living With Frescos

Living with Frescos specialises in making both classical and contemporary plaster panel frescos using methods which involve painting directly onto plaster. Turel, the fresco artist, has devised a way to incorporate frescos into modern life by producing fresco panels without working directly on a wall whilst keeping the unique style and texture of an ancient fresco. Being portable the panel can then be hung in any room in your home or you may like one of our frescos from our exterior range creating a relaxing Mediterranean feeling to your garden, patio or conservatory.

Each panel is designed to the individual’s specifications, hand crafted, hand painted and finished to a high standard with the aim of producing a frescos to suit your individual taste and decorative requirements to enhance your interior or exterior style.

The company was established by fresco specialist Turel Sut, and working along side the painter is his small but experienced team. Living with Frescos is based in Hastings, 1066 Country, on the South East coast of England.

Art with and for Victims of Redundancy

The financial crisis is having a significant impact on the everyday life of those in Hastings and surrounding towns, as unemployment in the area rises through redundancy it is becoming ever harder to ignore. To be a victim of redundancy can be for some, a very traumatic and unnerving situation to be in and this is why the project, ‘Art with and for Victims of Redundancy’ was conceived. With the recession intensifying and jobs being lost in ever-larger numbers it seems the problem will not go away quickly. This art project has been created to help people in many ways during this difficult time.

I hope that the venture will benefit not only those who have lost jobs but the community as a whole. The reasons behind ‘Art with and for Victims of Redundancy’ are to firstly provide art therapy for victims of the local economic crisis, to be inspired by art and those around you in the same circumstances. I understand the importance of job satisfaction, I hope this can be replaced with the satisfaction gained from creating art, learning from each other and taking part in a worthwhile project. Whilst out of work it can be easy to fall into a bad routine, having a group to belong to and a council backed project to put your energy into will not only look better on your CV but will also be a fun and valuable experience. We will be working towards exhibiting the pieces we produce, selling our work and charging a small fee to see the exhibitions. This is how we will be generating some income for participants in the project. ‘Art with and for Victims of Redundancy’ will also have a positive effect on the environment, as we will be using only recycled materials. It will also give Hastings arts a positive boost. It will provide the participants with new friendships and skills learnt from one another.

We will be using recyclable items such as computer monitors, furniture, children's toys, cardboard boxes, paper, tins, plastic, fabric and any unused unwanted items or broken goods. We need the public to donate items such as; glue, acrylic paint, and zips but only If they have any spare and are not going to use them anyway. I do not want any body to buy any materials for our project. We will use what we can find and the things going to be thrown away. We will create interesting art and craft work with these materials. These classes will be an exercise in making goods from scratch, every lesson will have an element of team work and decision making.

At present the project is very much in the beginning stages and local support is needed, we need to find victims of redundancy who have a creative flair, interested in arts and crafts. We will be meeting regularly to create pieces of work from everyday objects. However, there will be limited spaces available and this project isn’t just for those suffering from the loss of jobs in the area, it is also for those interested in the arts. We will have exhibitions in the Hastings area and plan to run a competition for the best piece of recycled art, we urge the people of Sussex to follow our events and come and support the project. The first three winners of the best recycled art competition will receive a trophy made by our class made from recycled materials and have a chance to exhibit in our exhibition.

I will hold classes at Laila's, the pub on the corner of Havelock Road, Hastings. To sign up for and learn more about the project go to My art cafe, in Priory Meadow Shopping Centre, Queen's Square, between New Look and Hot Potato.

If you are interested in any area of the project, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
